History
The area now known as Lake Country was originally inhabited by the Interior Salish people, who called Carr’s Landing “Cus-in-so-nook,” meaning “Place of Fickle Women.” European settlement began in the early 1900s, with pioneers establishing farms and orchards that laid the foundation for the community’s agricultural heritage. Incorporated in 1995, Lake Country unified the previously unincorporated communities into a single district municipality, each retaining its unique character and history.
