History
The name “Ellison” was adopted on December 1, 1955, in honor of Price Ellison (1852–1932), a stock raiser and wheat grower who settled in the area in 1876. At one point, he owned or controlled 80% of the property in the region. The Ellison Post Office was established on May 1, 1912, with Thomas Clinton as postmaster, and operated until May 15, 1920.
